The repair or operative treatment of damaged trees, as by the removal of diseased parts, filling of cavities, and prevention of further decay, and by strengthening branches with braces. Trees benefit from pruning or surgery to remove dead or damaged limbs or to make them less vulnerable to wind damage. A bracing system may be needed to strengthen the crown of a large tree. Some branches or secondary stems have a weak union with the main trunk. Removing them is an option, but it may be more appropriate to install a bracing system to reduce the chance of the stem or branch failing.
